A three-day workshop on health care waste management has ended at the Port Loko government hospital organised by the Health Ministry in collaboration with the National Aids Secretariat.
50 participants including various heads of departments and other members of staff of the Port Loko government hospital attended the workshop.
Explaining to our correspondent, Dr. Ibrahim Kargbo Labor said the objective is to raise awareness on the hazards related to the health care waste management, while identifying hospitals, dental clinics, mortuaries and institutions of disabled persons as sources of health care waste management.
Those cited as being at risk are medical doctors, hospital staff and patients, while several health related persons acted as resource persons. The workshop dilated on topics such as medical waste treatment and methods of disposal options.
