The Acting Managing Director of the Guma Valley Water Company, Maada Kpenge and an entourage of staff went to outstations in East and West and Mile 13 in Freetown. The Acting MD said he needs to get first hand information about the challenges facing Guma. The Ag. MD told staff that his first priority is to make all staff happy and feel motivated. Kpenge said his administration is working to address some of the many challenges staff are going through to carry out their duties. Staff at the various outstations advised him to look into overtime, working environment, vehicles and equipment, promotions, protection of Guma facilities, inadequate staffing, office space, ambiance, and communications. At the various stations visited, Kpenge continued his message of “One Guma Family” which according to him means that we cry, celebrate, play and laugh together as a family. At Mile 13, the Ag. MD promised to take their health and safety concerns seriously and thanked them for the very good work they had been doing by producing the water for the people of Freetown.
