GTZ donates over Le 45M to SLASC

The Country Representative of GTZ Rita Weidinger on Tuesday at Chez-Nous donated over Le 45M to the Single Leg Amputee Social club (SLASC) as part of their own contribution to the team as they are going to represent the country in the Amputee World Cup in Brazil slated for September this year.
Before the donation the guest of honour the wife of the Vice President Kadia Sam Sumana in her statement said she has attended the programe in a better/sweet mood
In a better mood because many more amputees who are in the street corners of Freetown their lives are yet to be touched in this way. In a sweet mood because, we have come here to celebrate the ability there is in disability
She further stated that GTZ has demonstrated over and gain that those in the fringes of society deserve a chance. And with the chance, they often do not fail in exploiting there inner most talent and ability in the most unique way they will take to Brazil.
She also expressed her greatest gratitude to GTZ for their relentless effort in helping those marginalized people in Sierra Leone in exploiting their abilities and talents.    
She stated that they are pleased to learn that GTZ has a history in Sierra Leone that spans over 45 years. She noted that only the civil war obstructed their good work in the country between 1991 and 1996.
So you can see that they were back even before the civil war formally ended in 2002 to continue their work in good governance ,peace –building ,Education ,Health and sustainable economic growth
Kadia Sam Sumana also went further by honoring the German government and GTZ and all its development partners such as Britain, European Union and the World Bank
She also mentioned that her heart goes out to the Single Leg amputees for the courage they have by making themselves useful members of society.
She disclosed that she has no doubt in their unique ability to bring us the Single Amputee Soccer tournament trophy from Brazil.
“As a Single Leg Amputee you now know that you are only physically challenged and that you are not without ability.
The Deputy Minister of Education Youth and Sports Algassium Jah said despite what the amputees have gone through they have brought hope to the hopeless adding that  they are proud of the role of Kadia Sam Sumana  is playing in sports.
The Minister of Employment Minkailu Mansaray who chaired the programme as GTZ is under his ministry in his own contribution said it was a very important day as sports in the country is going the direct way government wants it  to go
He also stated  that this is a special responsibility of GTZ not only to help the able but also the disabled.
