Govt. to set up “Sorry Heart Fund” for PLWD
SIERRA LEONE, Freetown: President Bio has in his speech to mark the 2021 International Day for People With Disabilities has promised to set up a fund to help People Living With Disabilities (PLWD).
He said “I have instructed the Social Welfare Minister, to establish a Public/Private “Sorry Heart Fund, that will provide seed money for addressing street begging among People Living With Disabilities in the Country.”
Reiterating that “disability is not inability” President Bio urged all PLWD to follow all Covid guidelines, urging them to “volunteer to be vaccinated in any of the free Covid vaccination centres.”
Among other things the President announced that the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has expanded its safety net programs to include People Living With Disability.
He also disclosed that the Government is expanding healthcare for PLWD’s including “home and clinic based care for over 900 children living with disabilities.
The President encouraged the PLWD to advocate for more. 6/12/2021
