It was an emotional farewell at the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) when the Head of intelligence and Prosecution, Lawyer Glenna Thompson bid farewell to the institution after the expiration of her contract, on Monday
Glowing tributes were paid in her honour by the Deputy Commissioner, Prosecuting counsels, investigators and other members of staff for her integrity, professionalism, hard work and determination. Sources at the ACC disclosed to Awoko that Lawyer Thompson had notified her colleagues during a retreat last December that she would not be renewing her contract when it expired in May this year.
She had served the institution since 2007, the source affirmed and had helped in her own way to the changes that had occurred within the ACC and it was further stated that, “under her directorship, this has been the most successful period of the ACC.”
The source also indicated that in March both the Justice Sector Development Programme (JSDP) and the Commission requested her to extend her stay for another two months so that a replacement could be found, but was reportedly turned down.
When Awoko contacted her for her comment, she said, “I have left the ACC and I have enjoyed making my own contribution to Sierra Leone”.
She further affirmed that she needs time for her family, and also to relax and perfect new hobbies.
However the source also disclosed that no case has been filed at the Judiciary against the suspended National Revenue Authority boss, Allieu Sesay.
