
First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma on Wednesday accepted the offer made by Libyan Mouamar Ghaddafi to build a new hospital as well as to renovate existing hospitals at various sites in Sierra Leone.
The gesture is under the Al- Ghaddafi project for the African Youth, Children and Women.
Speaking at the acceptance ceremony held at the Presidential Lodge Hill Station, Sia Koroma commended the Libya government on behalf of the people of Sierra Leone and described the gesture as timely as the government of Sierra Leone intends to rebrand the country.
Sia Koroma noted that the gifts have been provided after her constructive discussions with the Great Leader and Dr Aisha Ghaddafi, chairperson of the administrative Committee of the Al- Ghaddafi project for youth, children and women.
This project she stated has been designated as the custodian for these gifts on behalf of the people of Libyan while the Danke Koroma foundation has been designated as the custodian on behalf of the people of Sierra Leone.
The first lady assured the Libya government that she will implement the project according to its terms.
She further assured that this government and the Libyan government will strengthen bilateral ties.
In response the Libyan Ambassador designate to Sierra Leone, Mohamed Al- Harari Abdulsalam said that the project aims at building new school, hospitals and renovating existing hospitals at various sites in the country.
He emphasized that the Libyan government is ready to support this government with a number of projects that are on the pipe line.
The ambassador reiterated that the reasons they are undertaking such projects is to assist the government of Sierra Leone in its developmental drive.
Ambassador Mohamed Al- Harari Abdulsalam also spoke of Ghaddafi’s Green Revolution Project which aims to achieve President Koroma’s food security drive.
