Nongowa chiefdom authorities in the Kenema district have on Friday 18th September 2020 appointed chief Lahai Bockarie Lavalie as acting section chief of Gbo-Lambayama. Representing the paramount chief of Nongowa chiefdom, PC Sadique Mattoe Kapuwa, the acting chiefdom speaker, Frank Neka, said chief Lavalie’s appointment resulted from the sudden death of section chief Alhaji Ahmed Benson Suwu.
He said the appointment behoves the chief to work with the people of Gbo-Lambayama section and the chiefdom authorities in maintaining peace and sanity until an election is conducted for a new section chief. He called on the newly appointed acting section chief to work in harmony with section speaker Mohamed Possible Kallon and to consult each other in the running of the section’s affairs.
The senior section chief of Nongowa chiefdom, Amara Soko Musa, assured the new chief that all section chiefs of Nongowa chiefdom would give their fullest support to his chieftaincy and to guide him in serving his people at all times.
He called on the people to collectively work with their newly appointed acting section chief to ensure development in their communities. The town chief of Kenema, Alhaji Kenie Momoh Ngombulango, said Nongowa chiefdom is known for peace and unity and therefore encouraged the chief to serve his people with a human face at all times, and to operate with an open door policy to sustain peace among his people.
In his maiden address, the newly appointed acting section chief of Gbo-Lambayama section, chief Lahai Bockarie Lavalie, extended thanks and appreciation to the authorities of Nongowa chiefdom and the people of Gbo-Lambayama section for entrusting confidence in him to serve as acting section chief.
He assured all of maintaining a good working relationship with his people and the authorities of Nongowa chiefdom.
