Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Justice Cosmotina Jarrett has yesterday sentenced one Abdul Koroma, a leader of a ganged robbery, to 70 years imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre.
The Convict, Abdul Koroma was brought before the Court to answer to two counts indictment of Conspiracy to commit Robbery and Robbery with Aggravation.
During the course of the trial, Koroma was identified by the Victims; Mala Tilwani and Lokash as the leader of a gang of eight robbers who being armed with machetes, attacked, robbed and instilled fear in them.
One of the victims, Lokash, was severely beaten up and one of his fingers almost severely injured when the armed robbers tried to remove a silver ring from his hand.
The accused Abdul Koroma and his cohorts’ carted away property valued over five Hundred Million Leones old notes.
Justice Cosmotina Jarrett also discharged 2 accused persons, Ibrahim Conteh and Alusine Bangura.
Accused Ibrahim Conteh was before the Court for the offence of Larceny in a dwelling House,while Accused Alusine Bangura was also tried for the offence of Wounding with Intent.
Justice Jarrett discharged the two accused persons for Want of Prosecution. MJB/10/09/2023
