Gambia Bird will soon start flying into Sierra Leone, designated officials handling pre-operation matters disclosed to Awoko Business yesterday.
Gambia Bird is a new airline registered under the Gambian flag using Banjul International Airport as hub.
The airline is supported by the Germania Group Aviation Company registered in Germany and operates 19 aircrafts. The Group has been in existence for over 28 years.
Gambia Bird will commence operations using what its management described as pristine Airbus A319 branded with the national colors of The Gambia. It will seat 12 passengers in premium and 128 in economy class.
The vision of the business venture according to its management is to herald a new beginning for aviation in West Africa; a region which it said is developing a dynamic business infrastructure alongside expanding tourism and leisure facilities.
We intend to compliment this dynamism by providing a safe, reliable and exceptional scheduled service across all major cities in the region.
We are also scheduled to fly European destinations.
Schedule commences on the 22nd of October with its first flight to Dakar, Monrovia and Accra. The scheduled flights continue to destinations throughout the week with flights to Conakry, Freetown, London Gatwick and Barcelona. Operations to Lagos will start shortly Gambia Bird officials said yesterday.
“On arrival of the second aircraft on the 30th of November 2012, we will add the following new destinations; Abidjan, Abuja, Bamako, Douala and Ouagadougou” it’s officials added.
