One of Sierra Leone’s renowned Basketball team the Freetown Ballers have returned home from Guinea after playing two friendly matches against Stade De Guinea Volleyball team.
Speaking to this medium the head coach of the team Alhaji Haroun Sesay said that they played two matches and won the first match by 54 to 49.
In the second match, played on Saturday, Freetown Ballers was supposed to play against the All Stars but the Guinean team after losing their first match decided to play again with Freetown Ballers for supremacy.
The Guinean side won the second match by 81-58 after strengthening their team. According to the national coach Alhaji Haroun Sesay who also doubles as coach of Freetown Ballers said the friendly matches have been an eye opener to most of the players as this is their first set of international matches.
He also stated that the players have benefitted from the exposure at international level which is very important for the team and the country since most of these players are the future National team players that the country can boast of for the next two to three years.
Haroun also revealed that this international friendly match has put them on the right track as the International body has now recognized the team and the country that Basketball is playing which is very important for the country.
He also stated that such international friendly matches will put the country on the international Basketball map.
Coach Haroun revealed that Freetown Ballers were invited by Stade De Guinea Basket Ball Club, the Champions of the 2012 Guinea National Basket ball League. The Guinean Club invited Freetown Ballers to celebrate all the titles they won during the 2012 national Basketball league.
