Mohamed Bowen Freeman, the National Safety and Security officer of the Sierra Leone Football Association and CAF Safety and Security officer, will be in charge of the final group CAF match number 117 which pits Egypt’s El Ahly SC against Simba FC of Tanzania, to be played on Friday 9th April 2021 in Cairo.
Freeman said to be appointed to such a high standard CAF match is a big achievement in his career, adding he is humbled and honoured to go this far and is looking forward to more matches.
He also revealed that he is the first Sierra Leonean to be appointed as a Safety and Security Officer in a CAF/WAFU organised tournament.
Freeman said when he started working for SLFA in 2015 as head of security, three years later he applied to CAF for the position of CAF Safety and Security and a year later he was trained by CAF as the National Safety and Security Officer and CAF Safety and Security Officer.
Since that time, he has been appointed to be in charge of four CAF matches. Meanwhile, Freeman has been invited to a CAF Safety and Security retreat in Cameron slated for 22nd to 25th April 2021.
