A large chunk of drugs meant for the Free Health Care initiative has been found along Fourah Bay Road on sale.
Currently assisting the police in their investigation is 15 year-old Abdulai Sesay, who was nabbed by the Western Area Regional Supervisor of the Health for All Coalition, while selling the drugs with UNICEF logo on them.
Other traders involved in similar acts were reported to have dashed away on seeing the Supervisor.
The mother of the accused Madam Aminata Kamara, who resides at 126 Fourah Bay Road, who it is alleged gave the consignment to the boy for selling has also been apprehended and Police has obtained statements from her.
Charles Mambu, Director of the Health for All Coalition, called on the public and “well meaning Sierra Leoneans to closely monitor the utilization of the free health care drugs and to promptly report any incident of malpractices to the authorities.”
He further called on traders not to purchase or sell these drugs for or on behalf of anyone, while pleading to all and sundry that “the health for all coalition will continue to closely monitor the general free health care implementation.”
