Three accused persons – Mohamed Hindowa, Mohamed Stevens and Tommy Munda – made their last appearance before the presiding high court Judge Justice Nyawo Maturi-Jones at the Kenema high court at Reservation Road for two count charges: Count one conspiracy to steal and count two for murder contrary to laws of Sierra Leone.
According to Prosecutor Timothy Momoh Sowa, who is the Senior State counsel and also the Customary law officer east, on the second day of July 2006 at Moidu village in the Wandor chiefdom in the Kenema district, the accused allegedly murdered one Tommy Songu. The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge and the matter was adjourned to September 18, 2008.
At the same high court, another accused person, Emile Kamara, made his last appearance before the Presiding High Court Judge Justice Nyawo Maturi-Jones and was sentenced to four years imprisonment for burglary and larceny contrary of section 25 (1) and 13 (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916. Kamara reportedly broke and entered a dwelling house of one Isatu Jalloh in Kenema in June of last year and stole one mobile phone valued at Le 170,000, one television valued at Le 600,000, two remotes valued at Le 500,000, and two VCD players all to the total value of Le 1,275,000 property of Isatu Jalloh.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge but was found guilty by the 12-man jury of the High Court.
