A one day training workshop on peace building organized by the Fornikoh Youth Development Association has ended at the Blama Way station in Small Bo Chiefdom in the Kenema district. The workshop attracted participants from Serabu, Yawaima, Waima one and Waima two.
Welcoming the participants at the workshop Rev. Fr. Combey of the Catholic Mission who facilitated the workshop encouraged the participants to apply the problems they encounter in their communities as there are a lot of youth people without jobs simply because most of them are dropouts from schools. In his opening remarks the coordinator of Fornikoh Youth Development Association Mr. Mohamed Fadiru Lamin disclosed that the essence of the workshop was to create a healthy atmosphere within the four communities and observed that in their last HIV/AIDS implementation programme supported by Goal it was discovered that violence is the major problem among youths and disrespect for elders have led to under development in their various communities.
In his statement Chief Sao Vandi of Serabu town thanked the Fornikoh Youths for their brilliant initiatives in bringing peace among them at the time every body needed it and asked for more peace building training workshop from time to time.
The administrator of Fornikoh Youths Development Association Abdul Swaray thanked the participants for their large turn out and encouraged the parents to work hand in glove with their children. In her contribution the women’s leader for Waima Torkpumbu Madam Mamie Koroma called on the Fornikoh Youths Development Association to talk to their donors to help engage them in skills training activities that will make them self reliant. She revealed that most of them are widows and cannot give full support to their children.
