Former Salone Referee Micheal Joe Sam who passed away on May 5 after a short illness at the age of 43 years was laid to rest last Friday at the Ascension Town Cemetery after a well attended funeral service at the St Philip’s Evangelical church at Savage Street in Freetown.
The late man was until his death working at the Sierra Leone Army printing department where he had worked for the past 12 years. He became an assistant referee in 1996 and was one of the best assistant referees in the country.
The late man attended the Murray Town Primary School and later proceeded to the Buxton Primary School where he sat to the Selective Entrance Examination and proceeded to the Sierra Leone Grammar School from form one to six where he took the Advanced Level GCE examination.
The last match he officiated as an assistant referee was the match between Bo Rangers and FC Kallon played at the Bo coronation field on April 24th this year.
