Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Former Leone Stars, Tottenham, and Liverpool defender Steven Caulker has announced that he will take on the role of joint player-manager for FC Malaga City Academy in the 5th tier of Spanish football starting in January.
Caulker shared this exciting news following the confirmation of a player/coach deal with the Spanish side, FC Malaga City. The club officially announced the signing of the Premier League veteran, who has previously played for renowned clubs like Tottenham, Liverpool, and Fenerbahce.
In a statement, FC Malaga City expressed their pride in securing Caulker’s services, labelling it a historic day for the club. The agreement includes a Player/Joint Head Coach role for Caulker, who has already started integrating his influence within the first-team squad. His mentorship will extend across the academy from 2024, marking a significant addition to the club’s coaching staff.
