
The dragnet of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday embraced into its fold the former Ombudsman and Lawyer Francis Gabbidon for allegedly misappropriating public funds during his five years in office.
According to an official press release from the ACC, “Mr Francis Gabbidon, former Ombudsman of the Republic of Sierra Leone was arrested on Thursday April 17 2008 by the Anti Corruption Commission which is investigating allegations of offences contrary to the Anti Corruption Act 2000 as amended.”
The release went on to state that the investigation concerns his tenure as Ombudsman between 2000 and 2007.
Up to press time sources within the commission disclosed that frantic efforts were being made to secure his release.
