The former director of sports, M A Kamara, passed away yesterday after a short illness.
The late man served in that position from 2001-2004 before the late L.M Dumbuya took over from him.
He served as secretary general of the athletic association for over 20 years and was very active in promoting other sporting disciplines in the country.
M. A Kamara also served as IAAF field and track judge and also served as referee for many sporting disciplines in the country like boxing, volleyball and a host of others.
The late man was also desk officer for almost all of the sporting disciplines apart from football and as contributed in his own little way to promote sports in the country.
He also encouraged the forces to take active part in sport.
He was buried yesterday at the Kissy Mess Mess cemetery
