Sierra Leone: Everybody’s grumbling that hip-hop is dying. The once social commentary art with a militant activism culture is now polluted with drugs, gay culture and misogyny. To save the art, Sierra Leone’s most educated rapper, double master’s degree holder ‘Shak di Unstoppable,’ will today release his new freestyle track titled: ‘For the sake of hip-hop’.
In this hip hop ode to save rap, the rapper sent a shout out to Kao Denero Sierra Leone’s controversial rapper who was newly appointed as Entertainment Ambassador. In ‘For the sake of hip hop’ Shak voiced his heart about the direction of the industry, the hate and envy, and urged veteran rappers to be pacesetters; if not, they should find another calling. He commended some DJs for playing Sierra Leone music and urged others to follow suit.
