Nigeria Business Bomber Alhaji Dangote has eyed part of the reclaimed area of the Sierra Leone Ports Authority (SLPA) to establish cement and flour factories. During his visit last Thursday to assess a suitable area at the Ports vicinity for investment, Alhaji Dangote told the audience at the Ports Conference room that his visit was to endorse the establishment of cement and flower factories within the Port vicinity.
Mr. Dangote said his focus is to import raw materials, down stream them and majority of which would be used for export.
Delivering his keynote address, Port General Manager Captain Benjamin Davies welcomed Alhaji Dangote and his entourage for what he described as a timely enterprise.
According to Captain Davies, “the benefits of establishing these factories are very clear in terms of employment, balance in trade, which would in turn help foreign investment.”
Mr. Davies added that the enterprise has a rebranding effect as the presence of Alhaji Dangote would attract his colleagues and competitors to invest in Sierra Leone.
He stated that based on the interest in which Mr. Dangote has expressed to invest in Sierra Leone, an area within the reclaimed area of Port has been portioned to him and preliminary studies and design would commence soon.
