As Sierra Leoneans prepare to vote in the November 17 polls, First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma has called on voters in Gbenseh Chiefdom, in the Kono District to vote overwhelming for the re-election in to office of the All Peoples Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Parliamentary candidates and local councils candidates.
Addressing supporters at the Satta Kumba Amara hall in Koidu Town, Madam Koroma stated that the people of Kono district for far too long have been fighting for leadership position and now it has been given to them.
She called on supporters, especially women to join hands and support President Ernest Bai Koroma for the second term.
The First Lady stated that this election is four in one, urging voters to take it seriously and vote the correct way.
In his address, the Vice President, Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana commended the people of Kono for their support towards the Party, adding that President Ernest Bai Koroma has restored the dignity of the people of Kono district during his first term of office.
He disclosed that there is hope and life for the people of Kono district as different developmental projects for the district are under way.
Sam Sumana said that the 6.5 megawatt generator plant for the provision of electricity is in the head quarter town.
He highlighted that the electric poles have already been erected in the township, adding that the construction of the Matotoka high way to Kono will soon commence, as progress and development is their agenda.
The APC youth leader of Kono district Tamba Kaingbanja called on the youths of Kono district to speak with one voice and re-elect the APC government for the second term again.
He appealed to the youths to stay out of violence before, during and after elections.
The Women’s Leader of the All Peoples Congress Party Mariama Sorgbor appealed to the people of Kono to vote for the all the APC candidates.
Supporters from various political parties who have defected to the APC party were also introduced during the meeting. They include the Mayoral candidate of the PMDC and supporters of the SLPP.
