First Face International’ in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in partnership with ‘Thinking Pink Foundation’ will organize an audition to select the candidate that would represent Sierra Leone in the 2012 Miss West Africa Beauty Pageant.
Miss Stella Bangura who recently represented Sierra Leone at the just concluded Miss West Africa pageant and was second runner up was part of the programme.
Speaking to members of the press the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs disclosed that she did not find any structure in the Ministry to handle beauty pageants, but that she is doing everything within her power to change that situation. She encouraged all organizations with interest in pageantry shows to ensure they go through the Ministry once a body has been established to handle that aspect.
She commended First Face International for their positive move that ensured the participation of Sierra Leone in last year’s sub continental show in Banjul an effort she pointed out, was aimed at promoting the culture and beauty of Sierra Leone. She congratulated Miss Stella Bangura for her participation and her 2nd Runner up position.
Miss Stella Bangura in her statement congratulated First Face International and all her sponsors noting that had it not been for their timely intervention, “I would not have participated in that pageantry and I would not have become a winner,” Miss Bangura stated. She described the contest as tough but noted that it was her courage, confidence and style that earned her the position.
Statements were made by sponsors of First Face International including; S N Brussels and Thinking Pink Foundation. The grand finale for the Miss Sierra Leone West Africa Pageant will take place on the 21st April 2012.
