The Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Sheka Tarawallie yesterday launched the first ever Christian Television Station- Kedar Faith TV at the Miatta Conference Hall, Brookfields, Freetown.
Mr. Tarawallie stated in his remarks on the launch of the TV Station that it is immensely important to establish a religious television station to support the campaign against immorality and anti social behavior. He said that government supports with all seriousness the creation of information channels to propagate pertinent information in the country.
The Deputy Information Minister opined that the promotion of religious values has a positive impact on democratic governance and the rule of law, and also creates a platform where religious principles are discussed and disseminated.
The Kedar Faith TV is not only geared towards promoting Christianity but is going to function as a center for promoting morality, sanity and necessary religious concepts and principles in the Sierra Leonean society.
The necessity for the establishment of KF-TV is encapsulated in the fact that having gone through eleven years of brutal civil war, Sierra Leone and its citizens need to imbibe the culture of religion and acceptable moral values. The operation of KF-TV will help in healing the minds of the depressed and further helps in spiritualizing members of the Sierra Leonean population.
The Chief Executive Officer and originator for the establishment of KF-TV Reverend Sukai Mahdi said that the idea came out as an inspiration to promote Christianity and morality in Sierra Leone. She expressed the fact that the bulk of the people of Sierra Leone need spiritual intervention in their lives to enhance total transformation for the growth and development of the nation.
