According to information reaching this medium, 23 national sporting associations have met the registration requirements set by the National Sport Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports. A joint press release from the NSA and Ministry read: Pursuant to sections 16(a & b), 23, 24(1) and 36(1) of the National Sport Authority Act 2017, the NSA wishes to inform the public that the first batch of national sporting associations has met the registration requirements set by the National Sport Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports, and are hereby duly registered with the NSA, subject to payment of their registration fees at the NSA Disbursement Bank Account”.
The associations include the Sierra Leone Scrabble Association, Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Sierra Leone Athletic Association, Sierra Leone Boxing Association, Sierra Leone Gymnastics Association, Sierra Leone Judo Association, Sierra Leone Taekwondo Association, Sierra Leone Karate Association, Sierra Leone Golfers’ Association, Sierra Leone Squash Association, Sierra Leone Mixed Martial Art Association, Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association, Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water Polo Association, Sierra Leone Rollball and Roller Skating Association, Sierra Leone Single Leg Sports Association, Sierra Leone Deaf Sports Federation, Sierra Leone Strongest Man Association, Sierra Leone Chess Association, Sierra Leone Veteran Table Tennis Association, Sierra Leone National Triathlon Association, Sierra Leone National Supporters Union, Weight and Power Lifting Association and Sierra Leone Life Saving Society.
It was also noted that the registrations took effect the day the registration certificates were issued, and will be valid for one year, subject to renewal.
