Three shops within Kondewa Street in Koidu town have been completely razed to the ground, after a mysterious fire broke out in one of the outlets.
The inferno occurred after the day’s sales when the traders had retired to their homes.
Speaking to one of the affected traders, he indicated that he lost nearly Le40m worth of goods in the blaze and that most of them were given out to him on loan.
He lamented that, “I don’t know what I would say to my creditor when he comes to collect his money.”
Meanwhile, three suspects are now helping the police with their investigations.
Despite the arrests tongues are waggling that probably the inferno could have been caused by some thieves who attempted to break into the shops.
