Sierra Leone Chef de Mission for the London 2012 Olympic Games, Unisa Deen Kargbo has declared that the final deadline for the submission of completed forms for the accreditation of athletes and officials of some six sporting disciplines for the London Summer Olympic ends today Wednesday, February 15th 2012.
According to Mr. Kargbo the first deadline expired on January 15th due to the failure of Cycling, Athletics, and Judo, Table Tennis, Boxing, and Swimming teams to send in names of athletes for accreditation.
According to him, the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone and the IGLOC decided to extend the deadline to give opportunity to the sporting disciplines so that they do not feel left out of this year’s summer event.
He however noted, “If they fail to meet today’s deadline, it will appear that they are not interested in participating in the Summer Olympics and it will accepted as such,” and warned, “There will be no further extension.” Mr. Kargbo stated that after today’s deadline they will be concentrating on confirmation of entries and ensure that all mistakes are taken care of.
He disclosed that the Accreditation System is being managed by the London 2012 Organizing Committee which has the whole world to handle, which is why the issue of the deadline should not be toyed with.
