The dream of football lovers came to reality yesterday when FIFA approved the national stadium that it is now fit for international matches after it was banned last March.
The news came as no surprise to football lovers who were following the development of the renovation of the national stadium.
The African football icon Kalusha Bwalya who inspected the 260 million Leones renovated national stadium was in Lungi airport planning to depart the shores of Sierra Leone when the news broke out yesterday.
This is a sign that the government of Sierra Leone have done their assignment very well to make sure that the work is done to international FIFA standards and was completed on time.
Speaking to Awoko sports about the approval of the national stadium the station manager Alhaji Abdul Aziz said that he knew that they were going to pass the examination given the kind of professional work that was done by the pyramid group and our effort has not gone in vain.
Awoko Sports recalls that the ban was imposed by FIFA on the National Stadium in March, and during a press briefing with the Ministers of Education Youth and Sports, Sports Council officers, SLFA, and the Stadium Management all the parties that were involved in the running of the Stadium refused to carry the blame.
Yesterday however it was a different situation at the national stadium when the ban was lifted. All the parties now want to receive praise which is not fair to the government which provided the funds for such a wonderful renovation of the National Stadium.
