FFF schools stakeholders on project implementation

Future Focus Foundation (FFF) is a registered volunteer led indigenous organization working in rural communities in Eastern Sierra Leone since March 2008. FFF work to promote social justice, bring Hope to Children, young people and Women in deprived situations through advocacy and sustainable livelihood initiatives.

FFF focus on supporting the most vulnerable people, addressing specific needs of each community. In this way, communities are empowered to contribute meaningfully to their own development in a way that is sustainable.

Future Focus Foundation (FFF) with support from Red Nose Day USA through Consortium for Street Children (CSC) has ended a one day policy dialogue session at Lukays Community hall with partners, Civil Society Organizations, the press and other stakeholders with the aim of ensuring duty bearers commitment to project implementation

Giving the project overview, the National Team Leader Sylvester Sedie Kallon disclosed that in partnership with Consortium for Street Children (CSC), Future Focus Foundation is implementing a one year project (August, 2020 to July 2021) in Kenema, Eastern Sierra Leone. He said the current project is creating safe and sustainable environment to improve the quality of life of children in Street situations and their families in Kenema district.

He said to achieve the goal and objectives of the project they are undertaking series of project activities which include

Community Ownership Display, Which entail stakeholder’s consultative meeting and selection of beneficiaries.

COVID 19 Response Support which entail Food and non-food support to 40 families of street connected children and Wet feeding support to 40 street children at 3 strategic locations in the municipality.

Capacity building component that entail  Training on child Rights, child protection and safeguarding for 30 community child protection volunteers (CWCs),

Training on child Rights instruments and application for 30 Duty Bearers in relation to street connected children and

Training on positive parenting skills for 40 parents/caregivers.

He further explained that under the Economic Empowerment component, the project will provide Grants for income generation to 40 families of street connected children.

The activity of advocacy include Policy dialogue forum with duty bearers. Psychosocial support to 50 Street Children (counselling and social therapy).

Public Education and Awareness Raising (media, community engagement, risk communication)

The project support officer FFF Alphan Kelvin Massaquoi while addressing his audience disclosed that the activities of the project is being made possible with the full support of the staff which include Project Coordinator Umaru Sheriff,

Field office Karim osman Kenewa and Hawa Ruth Keifala finance officer.

Brima Jumu Brima community chief for Burma four section assured FFF of their fullest support in ensuring that the plight of the street children is being addressed by all stakeholders. He said some of their activities is part of the one week observance of the international street child day.
