The National Female Handball team is undergoing intensive training at the National Stadium in Preparation for the West African Female Youth Championship scheduled to take place in Guinea in July this year.
The Public Relations Officer of the Association Glen Felix George when he stated that because of the huge funds involved when it is hosted by a single country, the competition will be divided into two groups. Seven countries will be participating and Sierra Leone is in group A with Mali and the host, Guinea. The International Handball Association is sponsoring the competition and the countries are divided into two groups.
In Group B, Senegal becomes the host with Gambia, Mauritania and Cape Verde in the same group while the two host countries, Guinea and Senegal will provide the trophies for both competitions.
He also mentioned that in connection with the competition in Guinea, the association has decided to assist the head coach Idrissa Bangura who will be in charge to bring all the Female Handball clubs together to play some friendly matches for the selection of the youth team.
