The Sierra Leone U-15 cricket team which is to represent the country in their first international outing in The Gambia in December this year have started preparations ahead of the competition.
The Public Relations Officer of the association Alieu Bockarie told Awoko that since there was no female cricket going on in the country the executive last year decided to introduce it.
After some months since the introduction they decided to organize a female league competition. 6 female teams reportedly took part and the competition was deemed very successful.
He also stated that after the competition they were able to select two sets of players for both the senior side and the U-15.
Alieu mentioned that those U-15 players who were selected started training about four months ago under Gabriel Anthony as coach and they have been responding well to the skills and technique they have been taught so far.
He also stated that as an executive they are doing everything in their power to make sure that they not only represent the country but also bring laurels home.
Alieu also revealed that apart from the U-15 Female competition the senior side will also start training soon as they too will be preparing for their international assignment sometime next year. He assured them of the executive’s support at all times.
