Sierra Leone’s Female boxers will storm the Brima Attouga complex at Cline town today as the association and the female commissions organize a female boxing competition.
Speaking to Awoko Sports about the competition the Chairperson of the Female commission Grace Brown of the Sierra Leone Prison said they are very happy to organize such a competition for the female boxers as it has taken a very long time since the Female boxers had any national competition where they can fight each other.
She said that over the past years Female boxers have come on board to join the association and these female boxers need to have some exposure locally before going internationally.
That is why this national competition is very important she said. Also, she disclosed that they are going to see a very tough bout between Elizabeth Coker and Mariama Sesay. Both of them have represented Sierra Leone Female boxers at the Zone two competitions and they have brought Golden medals home on two occasions.
She also mentioned that female boxers in the provinces will also take part in today’s boxing competition as the best three boxers are expected to represent the country at the 5th Regional Africa Boxing Championship in Mali which is referred to as Zone Two competition.
Grace Brown went further that the appointment of a media commission will also boost these female boxers and the association to appeal to Sierra Leoneans to come in their hundreds to come cheer these female boxers for just two thousands and Five thousands Leones only.
She finally appealed to individuals companies and government to assist the association financially as without finance they cannot be able to achieve their goals and objectives.
Some of the female boxers who spoke to Awoko Sports yesterday at the National Stadium said they are very happy for such a competition as they have been undergoing training for the past years now. Without any local competition, it will not be good for them as they need to put what they have learnt into
