Students of the Mass Communications Department will today receive a lecture in “Transformation through the Power of Ideas” by Dr. Kaifala Marah a celebrated civil servant and also an adviser at the Commonwealth Secretariat.
Dr. Marah said “when the programme was being conceptualized, the transformation of personalities and institutions is undeniably made possible through the power of ideas. Current 21st Century initiatives and inventions, etc. are the very foundations on which the giants of development stand, and ideas have remained the resource that shape our personalities and define our institutions….”
He went on “the 21st Century challenges require that we think new, adopt new stream of ideas and search for what it takes to be efficient, effective as well as progressive in whatever we do.”
Dr. Marah is an alumnus of FBC, and worked at the former Koidu New Sembehun Town Council. After the attainment of his Masters Degree in the United States of America, Dr. Marah worked for a while in the United States Senate Budget Bureau before taking up appointment at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London. He is an expert in Public Finance Management; a key component of governance structure and reform around the world.
Dr. Marah has seen and gone through a lot of challenges in his current tender age and through these difficult times, coupled with the privileged position he now holds and his experience had molded him to his present status. It is these experiences that he wants to share with his compatriots, especially the young and his counterparts, as a motivation that all is not lost for them and all is not lost for Sierra Leone.
This lecture which is made possible by the Mass Communication Students Association of Fourah Bay College (MACOSA) is aimed at helping students of the Department to be knowledgeable about issues of transformation through the powers of ideas.
