The administration of the University of Sierra Leone, on Friday 31st January 2020, held a meeting to address student demands following a student protest at Fourah Bay College (FBC). Students are demanding a reduction in college fees, access to hostels, reduced graduation fees and a re-run of the Law Department student election, among others issues. The Head of Media and Public Relations, Hindolo Tonya Musa, said the administration of FBC held meetings with student representatives and the Law Society. The SU executive was advised to follow due process and administrative procedures concerning any expression of grievance or concern. The Law Society Student election will be re-run on 14th February 2020. In a press release dated 31st January 2020, the Student Union Government of Fourah Bay College, stated their concerns, including:
- Access to students to reside in the hostels, as soon as EDSA provides the 800 meters to the University.
- Graduation fees will be discussed with the administration of the University of Sierra Leone.
- The college administration has made necessary arrangement for buses and they will be made available within the shortest possible time
- A refund of application form fees bought for the 2018/2019 academic year
