Sierra Leone: Musa Barkotu, 26, was arrested at Sembelum and charged to court after he was found wearing military regalia and posing as a captain.
Barkotu was arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngegba at the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 on Pademba Road on Friday 16th April 2021.
He is charged with two counts of impersonation contrary to Section 3 of Cap 34 as amended by sub-Section 3 of the Personation and Uniform (Amended) Act No. 13 of 1975 and Larceny Contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the police, the accused between 1st January 2020 and 31st March 2021 at Bonthe Town, Bonthe District, impersonated a captain of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
Police also alleged that on 1st July 2020 at Bo Town, Barkotu stole by trick one Samsung K6 Galaxy mobile phone valued at Le2.5 million, property of Jestina Kallon.
The accused was not represented by a lawyer, and was remanded at the Male Correctional Facility on Pademba Road, Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 28th April 2021.
