Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Fambul Tok Sierra Leone has called on the nation’s politicians to prioritize the well-being of the people, urging a shift from “political games” to genuine progress. The organization highlighted the hardships faced by ordinary citizens and stressed the need for leaders to act with integrity.
John Caulker, Executive Director of Fambul Tok Sierra Leone, emphasized the importance of focusing on serving the nation rather than personal interests. The statement underscores the need for leaders to address critical challenges such as economic instability and the lack of opportunities.
Fambul Tok has called for an end to divisive actions and urged leaders to unite the country and prioritize the collective good. This includes enacting policies that benefit all Sierra Leoneans, fostering social justice, and creating economic opportunities.
The organization also highlighted the significance of dialogue and reconciliation for lasting peace. It urged investment in community-building efforts to heal past wounds and strengthen society, promoting harmony between ethnic groups and social cohesion.
Upholding democratic values is another key point emphasized by Fambul Tok. The organization stressed the need for fair and transparent governance to rebuild trust between the people and their leaders. This includes ensuring free and fair elections, respecting all voices, and holding politicians accountable.
Engagement with the people is crucial, according to Fambul Tok. Politicians must listen to citizens’ concerns and involve them in decision-making processes. The organization pledged its support for achieving these goals.
