Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Alusine Janneh found himself in a courtroom, answering to allegations of forgery related to documents from the Ministry of Lands and Surveys. The court heard four counts against him, including forgery and fraud.
The police have accused Janneh of fabricating certain documents for the purpose of surveying site plans in March 2019. These documents were purportedly signed by the Director of Surveys and Lands.
Furthermore, between February and May 2023, Janneh is alleged to have tampered with specific Ministry of Lands and Surveys documents, with the intent to deceive Karifa Kamara into transferring the sum of three thousand five hundred New Leones. This was done under the pretext of conducting a survey on a town lot of land situated at Forest Compound, Peninsula Road, Number Two River.
During the proceedings, M. Massaquoi represented Janneh and requested bail for his client. Massaquoi highlighted that Janneh is a family man and a resident of Freetown who would not obstruct the course of justice.
However, Magistrate Ngegba denied bail to Janneh and ordered that the accused be remanded in custody at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to October 11, 2023, as legal proceedings continue. SEG/8/10/2023
