The President of Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone, Frank Cole, has informed the membership that the executive had a good discussion with the Football Association after earlier submitting a budget of Le83 million that goes with the proposal. However, he said the FA is willing to support the association to achieve the training project in addition to the $3,000.

He revealed that the FA asked the executive to submit a budget for the training as they (the FA) will handle the lodging, venue of training, among others, while SWASAL will find the facilitators and transportation, as a total of 40 journalists will be catered for during the training.

Speaking on the AGM/Triennial Congress, President Cole revealed that for an individual to qualify to attend, s/he must pay their three-year outstanding subscription, especially those who did not attend the Kenema Congress, adding that those who attended and paid should only pay their two-year dues.

Delegate fee for the congress is Le 250,000, and the venue is Freetown.

According to former SWASAL President, Mohamed Fajah Barrie “there is more time left before we start looking at the AGM” while Emmanuel C. Thorli in his submission proposed that the executive move the congress to the provinces with an increase in delegate fees from Le250,000 to Le300,000.

Ishmail Saidu Kanu called on the executive to have a tentative date and venue until a final decision on where the congress should be staged is reached.

He also suggested that the executive consider having a zoom meeting for members in the provincial areas to follow.
