The second Vice President of the Sierra Leone Football Association Alie Commoner kargbo has disclosed to delegates during the two days extraordinary congress in Kenema that the Congress is their own Parliament for football where they make laws for the game.
“That is why as an Executive we are going to do our best to go strictly by the recommendations in the investigative report with immediate effect for the development of the game” he stated.
He went further to describe this year’s Extraordinary Congress as one of the best organized so far by the association as they were able to prepare ahead of the Congress.
Also during the Congress a committee of five including one member each from the four regions plus Sam Abu from Pujehun District was set up to look into the association’s 2008/2009 budget.
Sam Abu was nominated by the Congress while the four regions have been asked to identify their own representatives in the Budget Committee.
Also in the Activity Report the FA Secretary General Alimu Bah outlined what the FA have been engaged in during the period under review
Alimu Bah also recalled that they gave the Premier League Board US$10,000 as their own contribution to organize this year’s Salone Premier League which has been a success story.
The SLFA Secretary General Alimu Bah also mentioned the issue of buses which according to him have reduced traveling expenses for the clubs that want to play their local matches in Freetown and the Provinces.
Youth football, the first and second division leagues were also part of his report.
The Mayor of Kenema Brima Kargbo in his own contribution said the game should be decentralized to ensure proper management.
He went further to advise delegates that they should not be selfish and urged them to work as partners for development of the game which Sierra Leoneans cherish.
