Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – In a thrilling showcase of cycling prowess, more than 50 cyclists are set to participate in the Sierra Leone Cycling Association’s Inter-Clubs race picnic to Kent, scheduled for today, Sunday, January 14th, 2024.
Antony Bangura, the organizing Secretary, emphasized that this event marks the annual kickoff for the association, and cyclists eagerly anticipate this day to showcase their cycling skills.
The race will commence at the National Stadium, starting at a leisurely pace before picking up momentum in Waterloo. The association’s president noted that the race serves as a crucial time trial for the upcoming All-Africa Games scheduled to be held in Ghana in March this year.
Furthermore, the President revealed that the Minister of Sports and representatives from various sporting associations will grace the event, demonstrating their support for the cycling association.
Cycling enthusiasts will be treated to a thrilling spectacle as the race unfolds, with fans cheering on their favourite cyclists in the quest for victory, eagerly anticipating the first champion of the year.
In addition to the cycling race, the event will feature a variety of activities at the beach, including a football match and a Tug of War contest between cycling clubs, promising a day filled with exciting sportsmanship and camaraderie.
