The Principal of Evelyn’s Royal Academy, Violet Kawa has expressed commitment and determination to promote quality education for children attending her school.
The school is located at Old Grafton Road Meyemi, Allen Town opposite Yazbeck Furniture Company and the road to Yele poultry farm overlooking the Orugu River and Hastings Airfield.
The Principal of the school, said the school offers girls with latest information communication technology (ICT) learning materials, disciplined and dedicated teachers who teach at their best within spacious class- rooms with friendly learning environment.
The single- sex private school was established to cater for the growing population in the east of the city of Freetown, to save students from the stress of traffic congestion and at the same time providing them with ample time for leisure and study at home.
The school, she said, provides individual attention to pupils ensuring that each of them reaches the maximum of their potentials, while providing for them, appropriate and adequate learning materials.
Pupils seeking admission into the school are required to write an Entrance Examination to serve as diagnostic test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge.
The principal of the Evelyn’s Royal Academy, Violet Kawa, said there will be no more than 20 pupils per class and a teacher /pupil ration of 1:15 to allow greater individual attention and more regular drills and assessments.
The school building when completed, she said, will have a library, science laboratory, guidance and counseling room, sick bay and a home economics room.
The school curriculum also extends beyond preparing students for BECE and WASSCE examination.
Daily school uniforms for pupils include striped navy blue dress, a black and white stripped pullover or the school’s T. Shirt and a games tunic while girls are also expected to plait their hair without using attachments, curls, tints and hair decoration during school hours.
The school, the Principal said, also frowns at chains, rings and use of mobile phones in the school, except otherwise. Orientation and career development seminars are also organized by the school, for pupils and parents.
