The European Union (EU) yesterday donated a large consignment of office equipment which was used by the EU Observer Mission in Sierra Leone.
The 18 partners include, National Youth Coalition, Women In the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL), Sierra Leone Library Board, Sierra Leone Association of Journalist, the Independent Media Commission, Milton Margai School for the Blind, Campaign for Good Governance and SOS Children’s Village.
The items donated include, brand new laptops, generators, mobile phones, modem, Server, flash drives, printers, cabinets, jumper cables, printer cartridges, cash boxes and back-up hard drive.
The Head of Delegation, Jean-Pierre Raymondet- Commonly, while handing the document of the items to the different partners, said that the Observer Mission has played a vital role in the country, especially in the just-concluded Presidential, Parliamentary, Local Councils and Mayoral elections.
He said at the end of the Observer Mission they had to distribute the items, as they cannot take it back.
Therefore they decided to donate the items to their various partners, so that the relationship will continue.
The different institutions which they selected, he said, is based on the continuous process and it is a testimony of the relationship and they want to see the partnership in the future.
Jean-Pierre stated that the modest donations will help the recipients with their work, as they are faced with challenges in carrying out their duties.
The President of WIMSAL Zainab Kanu, said they are very happy for the items and hoped that the EU continue to support their work.
