The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) executive has appointed Emmanuel Kamara has the new National Cricket captain ahead of their international competition in Malawi next month.
The decision to appoint Emmanuel Kamara was reached in an executive meeting over the weekend when the former captain Ibrahim Sesay who is presently in England and the position of captaincy in the squad has been vacant and they have a competition ahead of them. Somebody needs to fill the position at once.
Before appointing Emmanuel Kamara, the executive looked at certain criteria before they finally reached the decision to endorse him who is not new to cricket.
Emmanuel has been part of the national team since 2000 and since his inclusion to the team he has been a regular player in most cases an open bat’s man and has won several competitions with the team both at home and away.
He has also won man of the match award in several competitions because of his outstanding performances and has been very instrumental to the national team because of the passion he has for the game.
His appointment was received as a shock to most of the senior players who were lobbying for the position since the departure of the former captain Ibrahim Sesay to England two months ago.
Speaking to Awoko most of the younger players described the executive decision has very correct as Emmanuel has been a motivating factor to Cricket since during school competitions.
