On Saturday residents of Kenema city, in the east, and Bo city in the south, got electricity supply after being in total blackout for the past six months due to major repairs that was going on at the hydro electricity dam at Dodo.
According to the chairman of the board of the Bo–Kenema Power Services (BKPS), chief Brima Kargbo, “it is unfortunate that not all parts of the cities will receive electricity supply at the moment because of the numerous cable (copper) thefts that have been going on in the two cities.”
He stated that, “the generator is now transmitting up to six mega watt to the cities which is not enough to serve the entire cities”.
Chief Brima Kargbo appealed to the public to be very vigilant in cracking down on those engaged in cable theft.
