Two men, Reuben Tekuyama and George Pratt, who are alleged to have been arrested with dangerous items on board a political party vehicle, are now being detained at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The men were apprehended at Lumley Roundabout at around 10.30 a.m. onboard a grey unregistered Lexus jeep, with a card number plate AHM 617.
Onboard the vehicle with the men were found four cutlasses, two mobile phones, one handset, a pair of handcuff, one empty pepper spray (tear-gas) and two 5-gallon petrol.
According to Police sources, the men when intercepted, told the Police that the vehicle belonged to the SLPP Presidential candidate, Rtd. Brig. Maada Bio.
CID boss Karrow Kamara who was busy co-ordinating activities surrounding the election day, told Awoko that a thorough investigation of the matter has commenced while the vehicle with a political party sticker has been impounded pending the outcome of the investigation.
Another young man, Augustine Eddie Tamba, was nearly lynched by an angry crowd of voters at Sorie Town, after he was alleged to have been voiding votes by not stamping the ballot papers for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The National Electoral Commission (NEC) staff, who was responsible for issuing ballot papers to voters for the Presidential and Parliamentary, is alleged to have refused to stamp the ballot papers especially voters who were old and illiterate at Polling station No.7 in the UMASS school, ward 375, constituency 106.
His action was noticed by a female voter who alerted the senior officials and all hell broke loose, as the crowd advanced on the culprit who was saved by security personnel who took him to the CID for questioning.
Meanwhile, the unstamped ballots are still a point of contention, especially as to whether these votes will be voided or not.
