The Minister of Education Youth and Sports Dr Minkailu Bah has blasted the Director of Sports Saidu Mansaray for the delay in paying out allowances to the Cycling officials who took part in the ECOWAS peace cycling tour in Liberia in December last year.
When the cycling delegation paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Education Youth and Sports about two months ago at his new England office the Minister assured the delegation that they will receive their allowances as they have brought laurels to the nation, but up till now they have not received their allowances.
It was only on Friday that Minister Bah knew that the cycling delegation have not received their allowances – he was shocked and wasted no time in calling the Director of Sports Saidu Mansaray to ask him about the allowances of the cycling delegation.
The Director reportedly started offering excuses but later assured the cycling delegation that they will receive their allowances today.
The Public Relations Officer said that this allowance has brought some kind of embarrassment to the executive and appealed to the director to stand by his words this time around.
