Makeni, SIERRA LEONE – Biriwa Stars FC has been slapped with a fine of NLe 500 for their failure to honour the return leg match against Sahid Conteh-U FC in the 2023 EBK Trophy, following a 6-0 defeat in the initial encounter on their home turf.
The Organizing Committee, led by Tejan Frederickson Fatorma, Head of Media and Marketing, officially announced the fine, citing Biriwa Stars FC’s failure to fulfill the scheduled fixture as a direct breach of the established rules and regulations of the competition.
In light of this violation, Biriwa Stars FC is mandated to settle the fine of NLe 500 before the commencement of the semifinals. Furthermore, Sahid Conteh-U FC has been granted three points with one goal, allowing them to advance to the group ‘A’ semifinals.
While the statement from the Organizing Committee does not specify the reasons behind Biriwa Stars FC’s non-participation in the scheduled fixture, it underscores that the lack of communication from the team regarding tangible and substantive reasons is a clear violation of the competition’s established rules.
