East End Lions Football club over the weekend topped the Salone Premier League when they defeated Old Edwardians by two goals to nil (2-0) at the National Stadium.
They now lead the table with 16 points out of 6 matches played so far.
East End Lions accounted for both goals in each half of the match.
The second goal was scored by Mohamed Kabia after they were reduced to 10 men when one of their players was red carded. Kabia though is currently the highest goal scorer in the league.
The head coach of East End Lions John Sesay said that it will not be easy for any team to remove them from the top of the table as they were not going to lose any match. The Assistant coach of old Edwardinas football team, Freaky Koroma however said he was disappointed with the team’s performance during the match as they failed to make good use of three chances in the match. He said the two previous matches they lost would have been a winning but immaturity affected them.
In the other matches played, Real Republicans registered their first victory after defeating Mount Aureol Galaxy by a lone goal.
The head coach of Real Republicans Hassan Turay said he was pleased with the boy’s performance and said there was hope in the team as they have started to score. But the head coach of Mount Aureol Galaxy Abu Sankoh expressed disappointment with the performance of his boys as they were unable to exhibit what they learnt in practice.
While in Magburaka, FC Kallon defeated Wusum Stars by a lone goal.
The goal was scored in the second half of the match by substitute Alusine Kamara (Baggio).
That winning now puts them in second position. Then on Sunday, Blackpool came back well prepared to defeat a well played Kambui Eagles by a lone goal.
The goal was scored by Crespo.
The league is expected to continue this Wednesday between East End Lions and Real Republicans.
