The defending champions East End Lions are on a good footing to defend their Premier League for the second consecutive season with three more games to go, and they are on 47 points.
Their arch rival, FC Kallon who is leading the table has secured 52 points with a game to go and if they win that match they will end the league with 55 points and Lions winning all three remaining matches, they will end the league with 56 points.
Two weeks ago they lost hope of, but things took a different turn when FC Kallon failed to win against Kamboi Eagles and East End Lions defeated Ports Authority.
They regain confidence when FC Kallon drew with Blackpool and they East End Lions went on to defeat Freetown City FC by two goals to one(2-1). This particular winning put East End Lions back on track to defend their title.
Speaking to Awoko after the match, Sidike Mansaray who scored a brace said that they are confident of winning the title as they are prepared to win all their remaining matches, so they are going be very serious in winning the remaining matches as they cannot afford to drop a single point if they want to win the title.
The goal scorer of Freetown City FC Samuel Bangura who came in the second half of the game said they aim to be amongst the first five teams at the end of the league which will be a big achievement for them as this is their first time to be in the premier league.
He cited the example of Gem Stars as both of them were promoted to the Premier league but currently they are the bottom of the league and they were the first team to be relegated.
