East End Lions’ hopes dashed

As the premier league continued over the weekend, East End Lions’ hope of fighting for the championship was dashed when they lost to Golden Dragons by a goal to nil at the Magburaka playing field.
During the match Lions lacked the biting attack to dislodge the Dragons who were poised to continue their winning spree for the last three weeks. They have now secured 25 points.
The victory for Dragons has now placed them better in the premier league table. In the first rounds Lions defeated Golden Dragons by three goals to two (3-2) at the National Stadium in Freetown 
In Kenema Gem Stars host Bo Rangers and they played to a one all draw while at the National Stadium Blackpool came very strong to defeat a stubborn Golf Leopards by a goal to nil. The only goal of the match came in the dying minutes of play. Blackpool have now secured 43 points out of 22 matches played, which put them in third position in the league table.
In the other match played defending champions Kallon FC walloped Old Edwardians by three goals to nil (3-0). Albert Foday (Junior Biano) put Kallon FC into the lead and some minutes later captain Kemokai Kallon increased the score line to two until the end of the first half. In the second half, Ibrahim Koroma made it three nil(3-0).
At the National Stadium Wusum Stars of Makeni defeated host Mount Auroel by two goals to nil. Melvin Bangura put Wusum Stars into the lead until the end of the first half
In the second half, Wusum Stars came more desperate looking for more goals that materialized during the dying minutes of play scored by Morlai Conteh to seal the coffin of their opponents.
They now have 29 points to their credit out of 22 matches played.
The league will continue on Friday between Ports Authority and Gem Stars at the National Stadium in Freetown.
