People of Dworzack Community are now having access to a modern community center made available to them by the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA).
The official opening was done by the Chief Executive Officer of Y Cares International UK.
The center is fully furnished with a computer training center, internet facilities, a daycare and an entertainment hall. In his statement the chairman of the ceremony, Sorie I Turay said that they are very happy to assemble together in celebration of this occasion.
He said for this structure to stand it took a great risk, by some of them adding that they thank God that their efforts did not go in vain.
Turay cautioned the youth to take advantage of this privilege created for them by YMCA.
YMCA project manager Francis Refuel said the project started as a result of the statement made by Sierra Leoneans: “man den nor gladi oh!!”
He said the project was to transform people’s life in different communities, noting that Y Care International UK realizes that Sierra Leonean youths are suffering so they decided to implement “This project (which) was to train 1200 men and women in different training skills in which only 400 people had completed the training”.
He further stated that the objective of YMCA is to erect community center with different facilities, to promote development, support young people and also upgrade deprived communities.
He explained that they had trained the people of the community how to relate with important personalities and also how to save money.
Councilor Juntie Sesay extended his gratitude to the Y Care International and the YMCA for a good job done.
He said he will use his influence to protect the center and all the facilities, stating that Dworzack community today is not the same yesterday because so many developments had taken place.
Sesay said YMCA had two qualities which are delivering and performing. He admonished the people in the community to be watch dogs for the center.
